ZykAmps - A Vision in Sound
Another ZykAmp PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Another ZykAmp is just about finished. I built this one on a slightly different (larger) chassis with the thought in mind to include reverb. The cab is cherry with black walnut inlay.  Please enjoy the pics...  I'll type up a more detailed build summery in a short time.

Please feel free to register for the forum to discuss the amp further or email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Design Philosophy PDF  | Print |  E-mail

A quick word on our amp design philosophy.  We believe your amplifier is a crucial part of defining your music.  As such, each amplifier we build is unique, with variations in parts, tubes, and design.  This allows us to tune each individual amplifier to find its own distinct tone.  Although somewhat daunting of a task,  as substantial amounts of time can be spent on a single amp, the end result is worth it.  Each amplifier, although similiar, has a tone all its own.

All amps are handwired, point-to-point, using quality parts, many vintage.  We use mostly vintage carbon composition resistors, with wirewound types in high power locations (Ohmite Brown Devil, Sprague Koolohm, or equivalent).  Capacitors vary from vintage Sprague, Corning, Mallory, etc, to some new production, depending the situation.  Transformers are modern, high quality, specifically chosen for our designs.  Head cases are solid hardwood design,  combos will vary, as we explore the tonal variations in wood types.

In the end its all about the tone, nothing else matters.
